Shylock Review
Shylock Review
What's Boss so curious in the conflict with Prathapa Varma?
Shylock Review:'Might it be older creation or new creation, Boss is the protagonist', states Boss (Mammootty) if Commissioner of Police Felix John (Siddique) inquires if he's considering a spin such as in fresh creation movies, where the protagonist turns hero all of a sudden. Much like Ajai Vasudev's previous movies, Rajadhi Raja and Masterpiece, Shylock is about the'hero' played with Mammootty.
It's a pure Mammootty enthusiast film and he will be the'Volume ka Baap' always. If anybody wishes to raise an eyebrow about anything in the movie, especially the punch dialogues pitched by Boss every now and then, he answers that'that the'cinematic bullshit'...'will last until the end' and keep it will.
Producer Prathapa Varma (Kalabhavan Shajohn) is in the location of the most recent movie and as he's in talks with the manager concerning the elongated program of the film, he receives a call from Boss. He dismisses it and then passes Ganapathy (Hareesh Kanaran) using a warning not to evade Boss' telephone. Prathapa Varma has been doing this and while the series is well prepared to take the protagonist's entrance shot of the movie, there is the actual'hero' of the movie making his manner hitting everyone coming his way.
Regardless of the warnings from Boss and his supporters, Prathapa Varma with the support of his commissioner buddy continues to wreck with Boss. And the battle starts. Can there be a story within the story?
Like one of those dialogues from the film, the movie starts as a comedy, subsequently becomes a thriller and finishes as a revenge narrative and we can visit Mammootty's one man show. 'The mega celebrity's mega operation' is highlighted by beating music from Gopi Sunder, Renadive's cinematography and punch dialogues from Aneesh Ahamed and Bibin Mohan. The nice feature of the film is that the story of Boss''annan' (Raj Kiran) and Lakshmi (Meena) which occurs in Kambam Theni, including the Tamil movie stories that we've been watching.
Through the film, Mammootty keeps mouthing Tamil movie dialogues out of Rajinikanth films and sometimes of Vijay movies which triggers nostalgia one of the bulk film lovers. Are we so lacking in imagination that we've got nothing to do with a'mega superstar' besides putting old wine from the bottle and garnering claps. The film is a pure mass entertainer, together with the formulation of a masala film, including a distinctive dance number.
For those lovers of'mega celebrity Mammootty', Shylock is a cure and for the followers of celebrity Mammootty, this really is a whole'no'.
